The Chi-Asin Project is an ongoing effort to learn about the heritage and history of the Chesaning Area of Michigan by integrating technology, archaeological research and ethnohistorical sources. Anishinabe for "Place of the Big Rock," Chi-Asin was the location of a corn-feasting ceremony during prehistoric and protohistoric times. The Native people of Michigan lived (and some continue to live) a fascinating lifestyle that mixed hunting and gathering with horticulture, mobility with sedentism.
